What is a Google SERP preview?
SERP means search engine results page. This tool creates a simplified visual example using the site name, URL, title, description, and optional favicon you enter. It helps you review writing before adding metadata to a page.
How to use this preview
- Enter the website name and complete page URL.
- Write a descriptive, concise page title.
- Summarize the specific page in the meta description.
- Optionally choose a local image for the illustrative favicon.
- Compare desktop and mobile preview widths.
- Analyze the writing, review warnings, and copy the escaped HTML.
Why the preview is approximate
Google creates title links automatically from several possible sources, including the title element, prominent page headings, page content, and links. It may choose a different title when that better represents a result.
Search snippets are also generated automatically and can change with the search query. Google may use a meta description when it describes the page better than available page content, but its use is not guaranteed.
Character counts are writing guidance
Google does not publish a fixed character limit for title links or meta descriptions. Results are shortened when needed to fit the available layout. This tool treats 30–60 title characters and 70–160 description characters as practical editorial ranges only.
Useful metadata writing principles
- Give every important page a specific, descriptive title.
- Avoid vague titles and unnatural keyword repetition.
- Keep the visible page heading and metadata aligned with the content.
- Write a unique description that accurately summarizes that page.
- Do not rely on the preview as a ranking score or click guarantee.
Important limitations
- The tool does not fetch, crawl, rank, or audit a website.
- It does not connect to Google Search Console or live results.
- Pixel wrapping and interface details can change by device and query.
- The optional favicon is displayed locally and is not uploaded.
- Google controls the title, snippet, favicon, and breadcrumb it shows.
Frequently asked questions
Will Google show my exact meta title?
Not always. The title element is an important source, but Google can use other page or link text to create a title link.
Is 60 characters an official title limit?
No. It is a practical writing range in this tool. Real title links are shortened according to the available display width.
Does the tool upload my favicon or metadata?
No. Inputs and the optional image stay in the browser. The tool does not send them to an SEO or AI API.
Need a complete on-page SEO review?
A search preview covers only a small part of a page. Yellow Solutions can help connect metadata, page structure, useful content, internal links, performance, and technical SEO into one practical plan.
